It is rare for a sequel to be better then the original but Fortune's Wheel is in my opinion a lot better then Turning Point. It is also a lot longer so it has more time to develop Carrie and Kusac as characters and as a couple. Also the books focus is more on world building and establishing more auxiliary characters, which really expands the cast. (In fact one downside was that I could have used a character list in order to differentiate between the many new characters.) One of the side characters I especially loved was Vanna although I felt bad for her as well as she was paired unexpectedly with a guy who is a complete jerk for most of the second half of the book. I really hope he redeems himself in the third book since Vanna is apparently stuck with him and she is much too nice to have to put up with that level of jackassery.

I have seen some put off by Carrie's immaturity, but considering her age, the fact I am pretty sure she has ptsd, and her that her entire life changed in the span of a few weeks I think she can be forgiven for her outbursts and at times her unreasonableness. I am also assuming that the author is doing this on purpose so that she can have character growth later on. Plus Kusac for being the more "mature" one in their partnership had his own outbursts that made several situations worse.

I am especially enjoying the world Norman has created and the mystery and intrigue surrounding the various guilds and characters keeps getting more fascinating. I will definitely be continuing on to the third book as I want to know what happens next

Love this series, though sometime i feel the main female protagonist is just a baby maker and love triangle bait.
I love this series!!!!
Well written and exciting. This is a great book in a great series. Up there with Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Clan of the Cave Bear.

I've read this series in paperback 3x! Happy that most of the series is on . Ready for book 3!
The story is frustrating, suffers from pacing problems, and Carrie is a terrible person in every possible way along with being a mary-sue stand in for the author. On the up side, she's a very accurate representation of the modern woman. Has everything, and still wants more, gets hysterical frequently and despite being of one mind (literally) with her partner, still emotionally manipulates him by requiring Kusac go above and beyond for her feefees. Written by a woman, so all the male characters are idiots, and females are gods who walk among us. But aside from the amazingly bad writing there IS a good story in here. The side characters, especially the Brotherhood are well written, and contribute to the story. The two protagonists exist entirely to write sex scenes, but the background information is solid, and so is the world building. This makes me believe that two people actually wrote this book. Lisanne Norman wrote the sex scenes and someone else wrote the backstory to fill in the gaps between sex. This series devolves later on after Fire Margins where sex becomes the entirety of the plot and exists in the time period when all of Fantasy and Science Fiction became blended with Female Porn, I mean romance novels as publishers insisted on appealing to a wider audience. However, this series exists just as this was starting, so there IS a story, you just have to dig for it.
